My Cat Kobayashi is recovering nicely from her recent Spaying.
Dr. Stiegal at Alaska Veterinary Clinic has been her Vet since her first Feline Leukemia Vaccine after adoption. ACAT provides a list of local Vets when you adopt a pet from ACAT.
I chose Alaska Veterinary Clinic because it is within walking distance of my home. In fact, I asked the Vet Tech if it was OK to walk for half a mile, with her in my backpack cat carrier?
She said, " Sure, that would be no problem.”
I said OK, Thank you I'm also training her to be an Adventure Cat.
I'm very satisfied with the service and convenience provided at Alaska Veterinary Clinic. All the staff and doctors are very nice and understand pets and pet owners.

The techs who have worked here the longest, noticed they go through a few, and the front staff are fantastic and great people. The rest, however, not so much.
Stupid things from ill informed staff keeps happening here, despite plenty of “training” days and their daily 1 1/2 hour lunch breaks.
One tech, who no longer works there ripped my dog’s scab off which led to it bleeding for an hour.
My elderly dog, 13 at the time, went for a blood pressure check and they put us in a room next to the staff door which they kept entering and exiting. This led to the tech, also haven’t seen her since, not being able to get a good reading because the constant noise made my dog nervous. I suggested we move to another room, the door next to our room opening and closing was making my dog pant with the stress of being nervous. The tech ignored me. Then she kept trying to close my dog’s mouth and hold it closed as she was still panting and that was messing with the readings. Again, I kept trying to suggest a different room, and was ignored. My poor 13 year old dog had to stand for 45 minutes straight and after we were finished I asked the front desk if I could please speak to a manager or supervisor about my visit but was told they would be in later. Later that day I called and was told they are in a meeting, try again. This went on for about 2 weeks: on vacation, in a meeting, out for training, called in sick. Life happened and I let it go because I had other things to do and worry about.
I spent about $1,200 on unnecessary dog food, if not more. After blood tests the vet diagnosed my 13 year old dog with kidney disease. Got it, old dog, things happen and the vet is a trained professional, who am I to question? What do I do? Limit protein and use this $100 15 pound rx dog food we sell. Got it, done, because I trust my vet and love my dog.
However- after a year and my dog’s values didn’t change I got suspicious. Come to find out after researching my dog’s breed it is common for their kidney values to be different from other breeds. I knew their thyroid and blood platelets were different but not kidney values. So I printed a copy of my dog’s breed normal kidney values, gave it to the staff to give to the vet, later I get a call from the vet saying: oh, well, yeah, she doesn’t have kidney disease and you don’t have to feed her that rx food anymore. No apologies, no reimbursement, just basically: your dog is fine.
My dog has since passed, Midnight Sun, who I donated my dogs medicine to and informed she is deceased please delete her file, sent me a “Condolences for your loss” card- Ak vet clinic- Not-a-damn-word. And yes, they were informed my dog had passed because I wanted to make sure they would update my dog’s records and reminders would no longer be needed. How cold is that? My regular vet can’t even send me a condolence card but my emergency vet does? SMH.
Don’t go here. Cannot express how horrible my experiences have been here as I only listed the more recent and worse ones.
